Theology of the Body
Over the course of their high school careers, our students will experience 12 sessions of Pope John Paul's Theology of the Body.  They will learn the meaning of true love and the role of sex in God's plan for our salvation. We invite parents and teens to view a video segments twice a year then break into discussion groups.  We regroup and discuss questions generated by the group.  We have snacks then parents leave. Teens stay for fellowship and fun.   In our first meeting this year we hosted an improvisational comedian, Rob Wahl, who tied Theology of the Body into his comedy routine.  We were laughing until our faces hurt.

Scripture Sharing
Each month we get together to share God's Word.  Scripture is read,  studied, and discussed in a group setting.  "Wherever two or more are gathered in My name….".  Jesus is truly with this group as we help form the faith of our teens.

Rob Bell videos
Rob Bell creates thought provoking videos on subject of faith near and dear to the teen heart.  Once or twice a month we get together and watch one of these videos.  Then we dissect the video for meaning and application in our lives.
In May of 2009 we viewed "Tomato" a video that dealt with the temptation to be mediocre, to not try hard to do our best.  To hide behind a "skin" of habits that protect the real us.  In the video Rob Bell talks about his wife's recipe for SALSA.  There is a man seen throughout the video with a red umbrella (the Tomato) who tempts people to hide the real person inside bad habits or behaviors.  We each held a tomato during the video.  At the end of the video we washed the tomatoes, tossed the ones that got squished, and made the tomatoes into the SALSA that Mr. Bell described.  It was wonderful.  It was meaningful.  The teens wanted the recipe.  They also hear the message.  Let the real you shine through.  Try hard.  Don't be afraid to be you.   Visit www.flannel.org to preview other videos.

National Catholic Youth Conference
This Conference comes once every two years, but it takes every bit of energy from those two years to make it happen.  Picture 20,000 young people and youth advisers praising God for four whole days. If you can picture this, you are close to were we will be in November of 2009. Seven or eight of our youth advisors will travel with 16 of our teens to Kansas City, Missouri, to do just that. Worship God openly and freely. What a great country we live in!

Get Your Can to Church
November 2008 teens traveled downtown to present a grant application to Catholic Charities for money to start a recycling program.  We were granted $1,000 to buy recycling bins to locate at our church and other local businesses.  We sell the beverage cans to support our Christmas Shop and Wrap program for needy families in our area.

Senior Scrapbooking
In February 2009, we traveled down to Cleveland again an presented our scrap booking proposal to Catholic Charities.  In October, 2009 our group will begin interviews of the senior citizens in our parish.  Teen will create a memory book for each senior citizen and publish an article highlighting the life of our older parishioners.

Fourth Week Meetings with St. Peter youth
Last year we tried monthly gatherings with the St. Peter youth group.  We called the gatherings Fourth Week, because that's when they happened.  Take a look at some of our gatherings.
