Welcome to 3rd grade PSR! My name is Lisa Palazzo, and this is the seventh year I've been teaching 3rd grade PSR. I'm looking forward to teaching (and learning from) your children this year.

My husband John and I live in Avon with our two daughters, Mary Kay (7th grade) and Sarah (4th grade). We have been members of St. Julie Billiart Church since 2001.

I have two goals for this PSR year in the 3rd grade classroom: (1) to help all members of our class grow closer to God by learning about Him through scripture and experiencing Him through prayer, and (2) to become a faith-sharing community of friends.

We will use the Bible a lot throughout the year. We'll start with the Old Testament and learn about God's faithfulness and love for his people by reading about the lives of Jonah, David and Goliath, Deborah, and others. We will learn about who Jesus is and how He is a healer, storyteller, and miracle-worker. We also will delve into the "whats and whys" of the Catholic religion. Why do we do what we do during Mass? When we recite the Lord's Prayer, what are we really saying? What are the parts of the church, and who are the people in it? As for this last issue, I stress to the students how the Catholic Church is for them and how they do not have to be adults to FULLY participate in what "church" means, is, and does.

Parents are always welcome in the classroom; no prior notice is required.

I look forward to meeting you and your children!
